With 3D Faux Wood Grain Internal Wall Coating, homeowners can mimic a natural-looking wood grain on non-wood surfaces, ranging from medium-density fiberboard to drywall. What’s more, the painter has full control over the color and variation of the faux wood grain, so they can dictate how to add texture to otherwise flat surfaces.

BEFORE APPLICATION

To get the best results it is important that the application must be done right, that it is properly applied to the correct thickness in the appropriate number of coats and that attention is paid to curing. 

Before you start you need to ensure that the surface you are rendering is free from dirt, dust, oil, grease, paint, silicone or friable material. Smooth dense surfaces with low absorption rates like concrete or metal window frames should be tested in small area before application.

APPLYING THE FIRST BASE LAYER

Apply one coat of the base coat with paint roller. Let dry for at least 24 hrs before applying the texture second coat.

SECOND TEXTURE LAYER

Apply a thin layer of the texture coating that extends the entire height of the project surface. Immediately position a wood grain rocker - a hand tool that creates a wood grain texture on painted surfaces - at a top edge of the project’s surface. Then slowly drag the rocker down vertically, rocking the curved head of the tool from the top to bottom through the wet texture coat until you reach the opposite end of the project surface. Use a paper towel to wipe the excess coating from the rocker and comb. Then move to the next swath of the project surface, and repeat above Steps. Continue this process until the faux wood grain covers the entire project surface. If you make a mistake, simply re-glaze the offending area and re-apply the faux wood grain. Let it dry for at least 24 hrs. Expect 20% shrinkage. Fully dried coat is water resistant.
